Pendulum announce split

It has been confirmed this week that Pendulum have split for good.

After their stunning ten year career with three albums under their belt the band have called it a day.

Rob Swire, main songwriter and instrumentalist is currently touring with his new project Knife Party announced live on his official Twitter.com/rob_swire: "There will be no further Pendulum live shows. There are no current plans for a new album in 2013."

When interviewed by an Australian radio station Swire commented "The Knife Party thing is going so well we don't really feel like going back to junior school anytime soon."

However the Pendulum's name will still live on as other band members Paul Harding and Ben Mount will still go on to book DJ sets under the Pendulum stage name.
The band have produced many club bangers including Watercolour, Propane Nightmares, Another Planet, Tarantula and performed live stage sets that blew us all away!

Have you seen Pendulum live? Been to a DJ set they played? Post your comments below as a tribute to the boys....

Netsky New Album '2' Release 25th June 2012

Here is all you need to know about the release of the new drum and bass album '2' by Netsky.  After the major success of the self titled first album 'Netsky' the wait is almost over for the Belgian boy's new album.  Zane Lowe on Radio One has already featured 'Love has gone' as his hottest record right now already...could he make it hottest album of the year? We will soon find out!

Get the album track listings and choose from the vinyl album or CD album below.

Netsky – "2" takes the 23 year old's signature sound and brings in live influences with elements of electro-house and dubstep alongside the euphoric, hands-in-the-air D+B he has become known for.

Across the 14-track selection there are a number of featured vocalists, from names we know and love such as Dynamite MC and Diane Charlemagne to international talents like million selling Belgian soul/funk singer/songwriter Selah Sue, The Times' "female artist to watch", Bridgette Amofah and Philly rapper Jimmy Jams.

Kicking off with a storming intro in "Love Has Gone" the album progresses through future anthems like "The Whistle Song" and "Wanna Die For You". Previously released singles "Give & Take" and "Come Alive" are all live band influences and catchy vocal hooks, whilst old skool piano chiming "Get Away From Here" is classic Netsky with a twist, with lush vocals courtesy of Selah Sue.

Elsewhere, "911" injects a bit of robo-electro-house and then there’s the streetwise patter of hip-hop charged drama in "Squad Up". "When Darkness Falls" is late night D+B soul lushness, whilst "Detonate" is an incendiary heavy hitter and final track "Drawing Straws" provides a classy outro.
Challenging the "difficult second album" concept with a genre-spanning panorama of uplifting melodies and exciting new tunes, Netsky – "2" reaffirms once more the young producer truly is one of Belgium's premium exports.

Marcus Intalex Soulful Drum and Bass

On the 30th June @ Hooga, Intense Records present ‘Mojo’ a brand new night of liquid funk, minimal dnb, future garage, dubstep, stripped back reggae and old skool hip hop!!! Headlining the event will be Marcus Intalex from Soul:R Records, famed for his soul:ful musical styles of Drum & Bass and earlier epic releases on Goldies Metalheadz imprint and Renegade Hardware.

This event is for lovers of all drum and bass and dubstep music, check the details here.

In the meantime get excited and read all about the man himself...

Both as an artist and a DJ, Marcus Intalex represents the forefront of soulful, musical drum & bass. Heading up the legendary Soul:r label, he has worked with artists such as Calibre and S.P.Y  and always sought to release quality music with lasting appeal. Marcus's DJ sets have earned him a reputation as a tastemaker, not afraid to test crowds with a fresh high quality selection from across the spectrum of drum & bass.

A passion for techno has always run deeply through his music, demonstrated this year by his success as an artist in the house and techno fields as Trevino. He represents Soul:ution with residencies in Manchester and at London's Fabric plus a radio show for Red Bull Music Academy. In 2012 Marcus is forging new musical frontiers both with his solo Drum and Bass releases, Soul:r the label, Soul:ution the club night, and now as Trevino.

Marcus’ passion for music was born in his native Manchester, where he experienced first-hand the energy of the nascent dance music scene as a regular on the dancefloor at the legendary Hacienda club. His interest for the music grew as the scene developed and, after landing his first professional DJ gig aged just 17, Marcus went on to work at the infamous Eastern Bloc record store. From here he established himself on the Manchester scene and began producing tracks together with fellow Mancunian Mark XTC as Da Intalex, appearing on Flex Recordings.
A chance meeting in the early 90’s, through Flex boss L Double, led to Marcus pairing up with producer and engineer ST Files and gave rise to the partnership we know today as MIST. In 1999, the pair’s ground-breaking release ‘How You Make Me Feel’ on 31 Records began a new soulful movement in drum & bass at a time when the scene was driven by predominantly dark and aggressive sounds.
Following up their success with a series of high-profile remixes for MJ Cole, Un:Cut, 4 Hero and Solid State, MIST duly established themselves as leaders in the field and, together with Calibre as Mist:ical, turned heads with their debut LP ‘The Eleventh Hour’ in 2007.

Since 2001 and the set-up of Soul:r label, they’ve released their own music and that of like-minded artists including Calibre, High Contrast, DJ Marky, dBridge, Alix Perez and Lynx & Kemo. The stable has grown to be amongst the most respected in drum & bass, reflecting Marcus’ own strong personal belief in innovative music with integrity and a life beyond solely the dancefloor. Sister label Revolve:r provides exposure for more experimental sounds, with Dutch dubstep don Martyn back in the frame for the latest release 'After Seven', in collaboration with Marcus on the imprint where his career began.

In 2008, the DAT Music project has brought together fresh sounds and inspirational sounds from the likes Instra:mental, S.P.Y and Lomax over 2 CD compilations. In May 2009, the debut album from Lynx & Kemo ‘The Raw Truth’ was released to critical acclaim, achieving a nomination for Best Album at this year's D&BA Awards and helping to further Soul:r’s reputation for pushing boundaries in drum & bass.

The highly successful Soul:ution residency at London superclub Fabric continues to go from strength-to-strength, with S.P.Y now added to a core that includes Calibre, Marcus and the ever-reliable MC DRS. Marcus’s Fabric Live 35 mix CD highlighted many of the reasons why, proving that music with lasting appeal and a diverse selection are among the key ingredients.

The Soul:ution Radio sessions for Red Bull Music Academy give worldwide reach and remain a focal point for the forefront of the drum & bass scene, keeping Marcus Intalex in constant demand as a DJ across the globe. Regular appearances for the likes of Metalheadz, Ram and Renegade Hardware have helped Marcus to avoid the obvious tags and pigeon-holes like ‘liquid’ and ‘minimal’ and reinforce his versatility as a DJ.

His remix of Douglas Greed’s ‘Frame’ on an EP for Combination Records in 2008 demonstrated he’s a more than capable techno producer, and tracks like ‘Sark’ (alongside ST Files), ‘Debbit’ and ‘4-4-2’ saw him crossing styles again, with support DJ ranging from Appleblim to Goldie. In 2011 and now into 2012, Marcus developed this passion further with the creation of Trevino, the artist, and has already had releases on top labels such as Naked Lunch, 3024, Hot Flush, Apple Pips and The Nothing Special. Trevino music has been receiving heavy praise and support from top players in the 120-130bpm electronic music scene including Scuba, Oneman, Loefah, & Alexander Nut.

One of Drum & Bass, and indeed Electronic Music's true visionaries, Marcus continues to set the pace and champion new artists wherever he travels. In 2012, Marcus has already begun the year with a very strong solo single on Soul:r, plus remixes for Lana Del Rey, Blu Mar Ten, Little Dragon and Spearhead Records.

We can look forward to more great music from Marcus Intalex and Soul:r this year including an artist LP from long-time cohort MC DRS. Plus of course with the addition of Trevino, Marcus spreads his unique musical vision across tempo's and genres.
